Scarf & Cowl Set 3

Sometimes I forget how great purple and yellow look together :) They are two of my favorite colors, just don't usually think of using them in the same pattern.

Didn't have enough of the purple to make a whole scarf, so yellow in the center worked. You could make the scarf all one color, it would still be beautiful.

MATERIALS

  • Bernat Super Value  (100% Acrylic, 440 yards / 402 meters, 7 ounces / 197 grams) Colors: Light Damson, Curry: 200 - 375 yds

  • Optional Yarn: Any worsted weight (#4) yarn.


HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US H8 / 5.00 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)


GAUGE

  • 14 stitches = 4”, first 8 rows/rounds = 4”


FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  • Cowl: 26” x 9”

  • Scarf: 61” x 6.5”

PATTERN NOTES

  • - Repeat instructions between the asterisks.

  • ( ) - Repeat instructions between the brackets.

  • Scarf: Turn at the end of each row.

  • Cowl: Working in the round, join with a slip stitch at the end of each round.

  • Chain 1 spaces do not count as stitches.

  • The chain 1 at the beginning of the row/round does not count as a stitch.

  • The altch2 is the first double crochet in the round/row.


INSTRUCTIONS - Cowl


Round 1: fsc 87 (or any multiple of 8 + 7), join as per video.(88 sts)

Optional Row 1: ch 88 (or any multiple of 8), being careful not to twist the chain, join ends, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. Join. (88 sts)


Round 2: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.


Round 3: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st around. Join.


Round 4: altch2, dc in the next 2 sts, POPCORN in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 3 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st around. Join.


Round 5: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, ch 1, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st around. Join.


Round 6: altch2, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next st, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1 st around.  Join.


Round 7: altch2, (dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1 st,  dc in the next st, (dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1 st around. Join.


Round 8: altch2, dc in the next 2 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 3 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st around. Join.


Round 9: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st,  dc in the next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st around. Join.


Repeat Rounds 6 - 9 until desired width.


2nd last Round: ch 1, sc in each st and ch sp around. Join.


Last Round: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.


Fasten off, weave in ends.



INSTRUCTIONS - Scarf


Row 1: fsc 209 (or any multiple of 8 + 1). (209 sts)

Optional Row 1: ch 210 (or any multiple of 8 + 2), sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. (209 sts)


Row 2: ch 1, sc in each st across.


Row 3: altch2, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 7 sts across, dc in the last st.


Row 4: altch2, dc in the next 3 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 3 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts across, dc in the last st.


Row 5: altch2, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 7 sts across, dc in the last st.


Row 6: altch2, dc in the next st, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, dc in the next st, (ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next st) 3 times across, dc in the last st.


Row 7: altch2, dc in the next st, (dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next st, (dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st) 3 times across, dc in the last st.


Row 8: altch2, dc in the next 3 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 3 sts, POPCORN  in the next st, dc in the next 3 sts across, dc in the last st.


Row 9: altch2, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in the next 7 sts across, dc in the last st.
