Sometimes you just need a pattern that uses a whole bunch of different colors of yarn. You know - all those small left over balls from other projects.
These patterns are a quick and easy row/round repeat. You can use as many or few colors as you want. Great thick and warm texture for those cold winter days.

MATERIALS
Bernat Premium (100% Acrylic, 360 yards / 329 meters, 7 oz / 198 g) 350 - 700 yds, depending on how many colors you use.
Other Yarn Options: most #4 weight yarns.

Hook US H8 / 5.00 mm
Scissors
Yarn Needle

14 stitches = 4”, 16 rows = 4”

Spike Single Crochet (ssc): insert hook below next st 1 row down (into same place as that st was worked), YO, draw loop through and up to height of present row, YO draw through both loops on hook.

PATTERN NOTES
- Repeat instructions between the asterisks.
Cowl: Working in the round, join with a slip stitch at the end of each round. Carry yarn on the inside of the cowl.
Scarf: Turn at the end of each row. Fasten off each color at the end of the row.
The chain 1 at the beginning of the row/round does not count as a stitch.

SCARF
INSTRUCTIONS
COLOR 1
Row 1: fsc 231 (or any odd number). (231 sts)
Optional Row 1: ch 232 (or any even number), sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. (231 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, sc in each st across. (231 sts)
NOTE: Every row will have 231 sts.
COLOR 2
Row 3: ch 1, sc in the first 2 sts, ssc in the next st, sc in the next st across, sc in the last st.
Row 4: ch 1, sc in each st across.
COLOR 3
Row 5: ch 1, sc in the first 3 sts, ssc in the next st, sc in the next st across, sc in the last 2 sts.
Row 6: ch 1, sc in each st across.
Rows 7 - 26: repeat Rows 3 - 6 with color changes every other row.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

COWL
INSTRUCTIONS
COLOR 1
Round 1: fsc 81 (or any odd number), join as per video. (82 sts)
Optional Round 1: ch 82 (or any even number), being careful not to twist the chain, join the ends, ch 1, sc in the first st and each st around. Join. (82 sts)
Round 2: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.
NOTE: every round will now have 82 sts.
COLOR 2
Round 3: ch 1, sc in the first st, ssc in the next st, sc in the next st, ssc in the next st around. Join.
Round 4: ch 1, sc in each st around.
COLOR 3
Round 5: ch 1, ssc in the first st, sc in the next st, ssc in the next st, sc in the next st around. Join.
Round 6: ch 1, sc in each st around.
Rounds 7 - 38: Repeat Rounds 3 - 6 changing colors every 2 rounds.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
