Sometimes you find the perfect yarn for shawls. Mary Maxim Mellowspun is a lovely dk weight yarn. It comes in a decent selection of colors. It's nice and soft, easy to work with, no splitting, & easy to unravel when you make a "mistake".
This shawl is a bit of a crescent shape. Quick and easy row repeats with a pretty border. You could crochet the shawl in a solid color or self striping yarn. Check out the "projects" on Ravelry to see what yarn & colors the pattern testers used.
