Working in the round, join with a slip stitch at the end of each round.
Chain spaces do not count as stitches.
The chain 2 at the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch.
The altch2 is counted as the first double crochet in the round.
INSTRUCTIONS
Round 1: fsc 79 (or any multiple of 20 + 19), join as per video link above. (80 sts)
Optional Round 1: ch 80 (or any multiple of 20), join without twisting the chain, ch 1, sc in the first ch and each ch around. (80 sts)
NOTE: if you are using Optional Round 1, sc around 1 more time.
Round 2: altch2, dc in the next 10 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, (dc in the next st, ch 1, skip 1 st) 4 times, * dc in the next 11 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, (dc in the next st, ch 1, skip 1 st) 4 times * around. Join.
Round 3: ch 2, fpdc around the first st, ch 1, skip 1 st, (dc in the next st, ch 1, skip 1 st) 4 times, fpdc around the next st, dc in the next ch sp, (dc in the next st, dc in the next ch sp) 4 times, * fpdc around the next st, ch 1, skip 1 st, (dc in the next st, ch 1, skip 1 st) 4 times, fpdc around the next st, dc in the next ch sp, (dc in the next st, dc in the next ch sp) 4 times * around. Join.

Join.
Rounds 5 - 12: Repeat Rounds 3 & 4.
NOTE: if you would like a wider cowl, repeat rounds 3 & 4 until your desired width.
Round 13: ch 1, sc in the first 11 sts, sc in the next ch sp, (sc in the next st, sc in the next ch sp) 4 times, * sc in the next 11 sts, sc in the next ch sp, (sc in the next st, sc in the next ch sp) 4 times * around. Join. (80 sts)
Round 14: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join. (80 sts)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
