Crochet is fun again! Since I decided that I could relax and not have to worry about designing 3-4 patterns a month my crochet time has been so much more relaxing.

Was just thinking about the projects I have started and realized I have 2 shawls & 4 blankets on the go! Usually I try to keep the WIPS down to 3 or 4, not 6! My brain just won't stop thinking about new designs, and that means I need to grab yarn and see if it works out lol. The notebook I have beside my chair is slowly filling up with ideas as well. Relaxing in the design process seems to mean that I have more time to think about new designs..... how does that work?
I have been working on patterns that will be published in 2026. There will be a shawl collection, lap blanket collection and at least 1 ear warmer collection. The ear warmers are done, patterns are in the tester process. Two of the shawls are done and tested, 2 shawls need to be finished.
The lap blankets are created specifically for SMILE EDMONTON, a group who help the homeless in Edmonton. They want small lap blankets & I happened to have a few colors of yarn with just enough of each color to make smaller blankets. Nice quick projects. Here are what 3 of them look like. The 4th one is only a few rows in so I don't have a photo of that one right now.
I found out that my niece will be having her first child either at the end of December or beginning of January. So exciting! This will be my brother and sister-in-law's first grandchild. Need to design a special blanket for them! The center took 2 tries to get it right, working 3 hours on each try...... designing is hard!

The niece and "nephew in law" farm so this will be a sorta of farm themed blanket. Not animals, more grain farming and growing. Hopefully it turns out in yarn the way it looks in my head lol.
One frustrating thing did happen this month. I'm working on a "shawl collection" for 2026. Each shawl will be using the same brand of yarn, but different colors and stitch patterns.
I was 1/4 through the 2nd skein of one color when a big mess showed up. What?! This has never happened before and I have used this yarn often. I found 2 extra ends. Never did get it untangled, there were knots and the yarn is a bit fuzzy so it was stuck together in other places. Had to get out the scissors :( . Good thing it's getting donated. If I was going to sell the shawl I would have been more upset.
I did contact the company. They sent back an email with "sorry it happened, keep us posted". Really?! Most companies are good about replacing skeins like this. Not Sidar apparently. Might have to look for a replacement to this yarn.

Since we are 1/2 way through 2025 I think it might be time for a sale!

That's all for June 2025. I hope your summer is going well and that you have some time to crochet :)

I love reading all your news. How exciting for your brother & SIL, Audrey! I love the start of your ‘farm’ blanket & am looking forward to seeing it finished. Maybe my life will even be more ‘on track’ by then & I’ll even be in a position to apply to test it.
Thank-you also for the great June pattern discount! I’m going shopping now!
