YARN REVIEW - Sidar Jewelspun

Sidar Jewelspun (100% Acrylic, 546 yards / 500 meters, 200 grams)

I think I love this yarn! When I saw it at the yarn shop I couldn’t believe it was acrylic! Usually when I find pretty yarn it’s wool & I can’t crochet with wool (itchy hands). The person working at the shop showed me some projects on Ravelry that used this yarn in the different colors they had. She was super helpful. There are so many beautiful colors!

The yarn is easy to crochet with & fairly easy to unravel, unless you unravel 4 or 5 times…. lol. It’s not really self striping, but creates a beautiful colored item. I made a shawl with this colorway, but might try something else with the other colorway I purchased.

It’s advertised as a worsted weight yarn & the label suggests using a 5 mm hook. I would consider it to be a light worsted weight, almost a dk weight but not quite. For the shawl I created I used a 4.5 mm hook.

Will I buy it again? Absolutely!

If you are ever in Kelowna BC, be sure to stop at the Kelowna Yarn & Needlecraft Store!

I created a shawl/wrap with the yarn. You can find the FREE pattern here:
