Summer Crochet Plans

My new views on designing have really helped me with the stress I was feeling about creating patterns. The fun is starting to return :) Crochet started as a hobby and something to do in the evenings while watching TV with hubby, but somewhere in the last 15 years it changed. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE designing. But it was really starting to feel more like a job than a hobby.

After taking a designer course on "finding your unique design style", I realized that I needed to slow down. It was time to get back to crocheting for "fun" and for donating.

This yarn was purchased with the intent of crocheting scarves and beanies for charities. The top 4 skeins are Premier yarn. The bottom bags are unlabelled. I bought a box of unlabelled yarn in fun colors. These 2 bags will be scarves and if there is enough left I will make a beanie or two. The yarn feels like Red Heart. Hoping it softens after washing.

The other day I chatted with someone (on FB) in Edmonton Alberta who is part of "Smile Edmonton" a charity that helps/works with the homeless and those struggling to make ends meet. I'm always on the look out for places to donate items.

They will take hats, scarves, cowls, smaller lap blankets and "stump warmers/socks". The stump warmers is a new one for me. Never thought that someone who has lost a limb might need something to help their limb stay warm! I have some bulky yarn that I wasn't sure what to do with - so I think that's what I will use it for.

In that box of unlabelled yarn were these colors. I will be able to make a lapghan in each color. They will get donated to Smile Edmonton. Each will be patterns available on my website in 2026 :) Free of course lol. I know that quite a few of my followers also donate for charities.

Don't worry, I'm also working on other patterns, already planning for 2026. I have 4 colors of one brand that will be 4 different shawls, LOTS of yarn for blankets, one is started. I have so many ideas I have finally bought a pretty journal so that I can write and sketch out my ideas as they come to me. The brain is so full it's hard to remember everything! lol

The above photo is the start if a blanket that will be a CAL in 2026. Right now I don't have plans for any smaller patterns, but will be updating some beanie patterns, scarf patterns and maybe fingerless gloves. It will all depend on what I feel like doing.

Now I have a good list of items that I can work on this summer!

It's nice to have a plan.

Do you plan your summer crocheting? I would love to hear about your plans!

Thank you for reading my post :)

Happy Crocheting my Friends!
