Scarf Challenge 3

If you use this FREE pattern, the challenge is to create at least 1 scarf that you donate to the charity of your choice.

MATERIALS

  • Any brand/weight yarn you would like. Your width will change depending on the yarn you use.

  • For this pattern I used 2 strands of dk weight.


HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US I9 / 5.5 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)

GAUGE

  • n/a


SIZES

  • n/a - different for every type of yarn used.


PATTERN KEY (US Terms)

  • altch2 = alternate chain 2

  • ch = chain

  • dc = double crochet

  • fsc = foundation single crochet

  • sc = single crochet

  • sps = spaces

  • st = stitch

  • sts = stitches


SPECIAL STITCHES & TECHNIQUES

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • Easy


NOTES

  • * * - Repeat instructions between the asterisks as many times as instructed.

  • Turn at the end of each row.

  • The ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a st.

  • You can use 2 strands together, or 1 strand of any weight yarn realizing that the width will change.

  • Use 1 color or as many colors as you like, changing colors on any sc row.

INSTRUCTIONS


Row 1: fsc 27, or any multiple of 6 + 3. (27 sts)

Optional Row 1: chain 28 (or any multiple of 6 + 4), sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. (27 sts)


Row 2: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, * V-ST in the next st, skip 2 sts * across until 2 sts remain, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Row 3: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, * V-ST in the next ch sp, skip 2 sts * across until 2 sts remain, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Row 4: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, * Cluster in the next ch sp, skip 2 sts * across until 2 sts remain, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Row 5: ch 1, sc in the first 3 sts, ch 3, skip 3 sts, * sc between the next 2 Clusters, ch 3 * across, sc in the last 3 sts.


Row 6: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 1 st, * V-ST in the next ch sp, skip 1 st * across, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Row 7: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, * V-ST in the next ch sp, skip 2 sts * across until 2 sts remain, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Row 8: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, * Cluster in the next ch sp, skip 2 sts * across until 2 sts remain, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Repeat Rows 5 - 8 until desired length.


Last Row: ch 1, sc in the first st and each st across.


Fasten off and weave ends.
